Whipped Cream Cake

1/2 c. sugar
3 egg yolks
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. milk
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder

Mix in the usual cake mixing manner. Spread into greased and floured pan. (8 x 8 inch square or 9 inch round). PART II: Make meringue with 3 egg whites and 1 cup sugar. Beat until stiff peaks. Spread on top of uncooked batter and bake 25 minutes at 350 degrees; if baked in long pan, 30 minutes. Cool and loosen from sides of pan. For 2 layers, double recipe. Turn meringue side down first layer. Spread with cream and berries next layer meringue up.
