Strawberry Nut Shortcake

1/2 c. dairy sour cream
1/3 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. broken walnuts
1 1/2 c. sifted all purpose flour
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 qt. strawberries, sweetened
1 c. whipping cream, whipped

Combine sour cream, shortening and egg, beat smooth; add nuts. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to sour cream mixture; stir just until moistened. Drop by 1/3 cup portions onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Split shortcakes. Fill and top with strawberries and whipped cream. Makes 6 servings.
