German Peach Cake

1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 egg
1 tbsp. milk

Sift first four ingredients together. Add butter and mix like you would for pastry. Beat in 1 egg and milk. Spread the stiff dough 1/4 inch thick in a greased pie plate. Cover the top very closely with sliced peaches. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over peaches, dot with butter. Bake 425 degree oven for about 25 minutes. Other fruit can be substituted - plums, cherries or apples.
