Fried Cakes

1 c. sugar
2 eggs
3 tbsp. shortening, melted
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. flour, sifted
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt

Mix all ingredients and roll out 1/4-inch thick. Fry in hot oil.
