Date Nut Cake

1 c. sugar
2 pkg. pitted and chipped dates, 12 oz.
1/2 lb. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. plain flour
3 eggs
1 qt. nuts
2 tsp. baking powder

Mix all ingredients. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.
