Christmas Pecan Cake

5 eggs
1 c. white sugar
1 stick butter or oleo
1 c. milk
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 box light brown sugar
1 c. vegetable shortening
3 c. flour
1 1/2 c. broken pecans
1/2 tsp. salt

Combine all ingredients in large bowl of electric mixer and beat on medium speed until well blended. Line bottom of tube pan with waxed paper and pour in batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 1-1 1/4 hours until done.
