Cherry Fruit Cake

1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
6 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 lb. candied pineapple
1 tsp. salt
2 (8 oz.) pkg. pitted dates
1 tsp. baking powder
5 1/2 c. pecans
2 (16 oz.) jars maraschino cherries
1/3 c. rum

Sift flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Add cherries, dates, pineapple and nuts to the mixture; toss well. Beat eggs with rum and pour over the mixture. Grease 3 loaf pans, then line with tin foil and grease again. Pour mixture into loaf pans and cook for 1 hour and 45 minutes at 300 degrees. Let cool 15 minutes. Put Karo syrup on top.
