Blitzkuchen (quick Cake) Dutch

1 1/3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. milk
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. chopped walnuts (optional)

Mix flour and baking powder; set aside. Cream butter with vanilla extract until softened. Add 2/3 cup sugar gradually, creaming until fluffy. Add eggs in thirds, beating well after each addition. Alternately add dry ingredients in thirds, and the milk in halves to creamed mixture, mixing until blended after each addition. Turn batter into well greased 9 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Sprinkle a mixture of the remaining sugar, cinnamon and walnuts over top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes or until done. Makes one 9 inch square cake.
